They said we have five senses.
Now some say twenty-odd senses. Or mebbe twenty odd-senses.
🙂
Here, if our COMMON knowledge of the world is – in NEVER simple hindsight – a gross Newtonian simplification, perhaps our understanding of what the brain can perceive is inaccurate too.
When John Forbes Nash Jr’s brain was white-coated so aggressively, when he concluded from the evidence before him that evil Russians were stretching out a personal vendetta and conspiracy against him … this was when society and his doctors chose to dampen him severely down, and even imprison him.
NOT because of what his SYMBOLIC mind perceived: rather, because of what his RATIONAL mind concluded.
He was judged so wrong, IMHO, not because he sensed in the first place there was a “thing” out there: an existential dog whistle only schizophrenics easily sense. After all, people who believe in God can claim they sense similar things without being white-coated.

No. It wasn’t that he saw something – with his #arational, #intuitive, and #beautifulmind of #superskills – which others find it harder to perceive.
His crime was when his #rational #logician‘s #conscience of correctitude found itself obliged to kick in and devise an acceptably Newtonian explanation.
No?
